QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
1. Professor:
Candidates must possess a PhD or its equivalent in the relevant field from a recognized institution, particularly for the following departments:
Nursing Science
Medical Laboratory Science
Physiotherapy
Human Nutrition and Dietetics
Radiography and Radiation Science
Dentistry
Candidates must have outstanding and continuing scholarly achievements/publications and must have served as Associate Professor for at least three years. They must have publications of international repute and be academically visible on platforms such as Google Scholar and ResearchGate. Registration with a recognized professional body is required where applicable.
Associate Professor
Candidates must possess a PhD or its equivalent in the relevant field from a recognized institution in the following programs:
Nursing Science
Medical Laboratory Science
Physiotherapy
Human Nutrition and Dietetics
Radiography and Radiation Science
Dentistry
Candidates must have nine years post-qualification cognate experience with evidence of scholarly achievement/publications. They must be academically visible and registered with a recognized professional body where applicable.
Senior Lecturer
Candidates must possess a PhD or its equivalent plus at least six years post-qualification cognate experience, including three years as Lecturer I in a university or similar institution.
Lecturer I
Candidates must possess a PhD or its equivalent plus at least three years of relevant cognate experience in a tertiary institution. PhD holders must have at least two publications; Master’s degree holders must have three. Candidates must have served as Lecturer II for three years.
Lecturer II
Candidates must possess a PhD in the relevant discipline or a Master’s degree in the case of Law, Pharmacy, Optometry, Medical Laboratory Science, Nursing, Radiography, Physiotherapy, Environmental Studies, Engineering, or MBBS plus Part I Fellowship.
Assistant Lecturer
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree with dissertation. For Law, candidates must have a First Degree with Second Class Honours (Upper Division) and a Barrister-at-Law (B.L) from the Nigerian Law School.
Graduate Assistant
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree with Second Class Honours (Upper Division) from a recognized university.
Non-Teaching Staff (Senior and Junior)
Principal Technologist
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree or HND in Science Laboratory Technology or equivalent, plus nine years of relevant experience. Must be registered with NISLT, ISTL, COREN, or other relevant professional bodies, and possess NYSC Discharge/Exemption/Exclusion Certificate.
Principal Medical Laboratory Technologist:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree or HND in Medical Laboratory Science or AIMLT qualification, plus nine years post-qualification experience or FIMLT with at least eight years’ experience. NYSC certificate required.
Senior Technologist:
Candidates must possess a B.Sc or HND in Science Laboratory Technology plus six years of relevant experience or three years for M.Sc holders. Must be registered with a relevant professional body and possess NYSC certificate.
Medical Laboratory Scientist:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science, registration with IMLSN, and NYSC certificate.
Laboratory Technician I:
Candidates must possess HND, MLT, or City and Guilds Part II in Science Laboratory Technology or equivalent, plus NYSC certificate.
Laboratory Assistant:
Candidates must possess SSCE/GCE/NECO O’Level with five credits including English Language, plus ND in a related discipline and at least three years post-qualification experience.
